Dogecoin (DOGE) Fan Elon Musk Sues OpenAI and Worldcoin (WLD) Co-Founder Over Alleged Contract Violations

Billionaire and known Dogecoin (DOGE) proponent Elon Musk is suing the co-founder of artificial intelligence (AI)-based altcoin Worldcoin (WLD) for alleged contract violations.

In a new court filing, the business magnate is suing OpenAI chief executive Samual Altman, president Greg Brockman and the firm itself for allegedly breaching its founding agreement.

In the lawsuit, Musk claims that the defendants abandoned the original purpose of the project, which was to advance AI-related technology and instead has become a subsidiary of tech giant Microsoft.

“To this day, OpenAI, Inc.’s website continues to profess that its charter is to ensure that AGI (artificial general intelligence) ‘benefits all of humanity.’ In reality, however, OpenAI, Inc. has been transformed into a closed-source de facto subsidiary of the largest technology company in the world: Microsoft.

Under its new board, it is not just developing but is actually refining an AGI to maximize profits for Microsoft, rather than for the benefit of humanity. It’s technology, including GPT-4, is closed-source primarily to serve the proprietary commercial interests of Microsoft.”

According to the lawsuit, Altman first reached out to Musk in 2015, pitching a detailed proposal for an “AI Lab” with its mission being to create the first AGI for “individual empowerment.”

Musk agreed to the idea and began funding and recruiting for OpenAI.

“All told, Mr. Musk contributed more than $44 million to OpenAI, Inc. between 2016 and September 2020.”

However, the Tesla CEO says that since being controlled by Microsoft, OpenAI has breached the founding agreement they signed with him.

“Having reached the threshold of AGI, which under the founding agreement they were to develop for the benefit of humanity rather than for any for-profit company or personal profit, Defendants instead radically departed from their mission in breach of the founding agreement…

Contrary to the founding agreement, Defendants have chosen to use GPT-4 not for the benefit of humanity, but as proprietary technology to maximize profits for literally the largest company in the world.

Further, OpenAI’s entire development is now veiled in secrecy and the public only has rumors and isolated fragments of communications to understand what may be released next.”

Worldcoin is trading for $7.93 at time of writing, a 5.4% gain during the last day.
